John James Audubon, an American ornithologist and painter, is renowned for his unique and meticulous studies documenting bird species in their natural habitats. His attention to detail is awe-inspiring. Illustration from 'Birds of America', 1827-38, the 'American White Pelican' showcases the majestic bird with its distinctive large beak and elegant plumage. Set against a charcoal background, Audobon adds a modest amount of landscape detail to hint at the magnificent bird's habitat. A decorative gold frame with textured highlights presents the canvas. A golden dark blue outer lip and sides complete the beautiful artwork.
