Pierre-Joseph Redout (1759 - 1840) was a painter and botanist from Belgium, known for his watercolours of roses, lilies and other flowers at Malmaison. Redout was an official court artist of Marie Antoinette. Against a charcoal background with a faint hint of blue, the Moschata rose stem is presented with fine detail. Renowned for its beauty, fragrance, and intriguing cultural symbolism, the beautiful rose is one of the most iconic and beloved flowers in the world.
